This book assumes that the student has a 1.000-word vocabulary. It is designed to teach another thousand words plus the reading skills of comprehension, finding the main idea, making inferences, and using context clues, prefixes, and suffixes to learn new words. It is at the same level and covers the same material as "Insights & Ideas". The lesson topics are all different and although the exercises present the same material, the sentences are all different.

And Instructor´s Manual with answers to all the exercises is available. The Manual also includes tests. There is a quiz for Lesson One and Lesson Two, so that instructors can test the students during the first week. After that, there is a quiz for every two lessons.

There are also midterm and final exams. The quizes test the content of the lessons, but the midterm and final have new reading texts with comprehension and main idea questions. There are no timed readings. I feel that at this level, students need to read slowly and carefully and notice everything that can about the English language. They can increase their speed at later level…
